This year, about one hundred vehicles caravaned through Sacramento from Sacramento City College to Sacramento State University. The cars, motorcycles, trucks, etc. were met with waves, clenched fists, peace signs and smiles all along the route. Many of the caravan vehicles sported hand-drawn signs and designs showing their support for Dr. Martin Luther King’s vision of a better, non-racist America.
The Sacramento Police Dept. obligingly closed off cross streets and waved the caravan through stoplights and stop signs. A celebration of Dr. King’s legacy ended the day at the state college.
