On Saturday, March 11 at 10:30 a.m., ILWU Local 10 will be broadcasting an event entitled Bearing Witness in the Case of Mumia Abu-Jamal live from Philadelphia at Local 10, 400 North Point in San Francisco.
Mumia Abu-Jamal was falsely convicted and sentenced to death on July 3, 1982, after being targeted by the FBI, framed by the Philadelphia police, and convicted based on the prosecution’s agenda.
The Philadelphia event is headlined by Judge Wendell Griffen (ret.). Judge Griffen has gone on record stating that Mumia is innocent and should be released immediately. Other speakers at the event include Dr. Cornel West, Dr. Johanna Fernandez, Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, and Linn Washington.
In addition, a short report back on the recent ILWU delegation to South Africa and the work stoppages/actions by ILWU, the NUMSA (National Union of Metalworkers, South Africa's largest union), and the RETUSA (Revolutionary Transport Union of South Africa) for Mumia's freedom last month.
The Peace and Freedom Party supports this event, as we do any positive action aimed at the release of Mumia Abu-Jamal and all political prisoners.
