On the first weekend in October, the city of Sacramento played host to two annual events: the Sacramento Climate Justice Festival and the 23rd Freethought Day. Naturally, Peace & Freedom Sacramento County was there with our socialist, feminist, anti-imperialist alternative to the status quo who have no regard for our critical concerns
At the Freethought Day event sponsored by a number of atheist, agnostic and freethinking organizations held at the California state capitol on Sunday, October 6, up to seven comrades tabled at various times throughout the day, talking with folks about the Peace & Freedom Party and passing out Workers’ Voter Guides.
With the election on the horizon, our Voter Guides with its proposition recommendations were very popular. Most in attendance at Freethought Day said they either hadn’t begun to consider the props or were confused by all the ads. They eagerly welcomed our views on the propositions, and many were also interested in checking out the PFP-nominated presidential ticket of Claudia de la Cruz and Karina Garcia as well.
That Sunday was a 100-degree day, but the comrades stuck it out, passing out dozens of Voter Guides – All in all, a good day of election outreach and networking with other organizations.
