As requested in a letter from Peace and Freedom Party State Chair Debra Reiger to California Secretary of State Shirley Weber, three candidates have been recognized for inclusion in the March 5, 2024, presidential primary of the party.  Only voters registered as Peace and Freedom Party members may vote for any of these candidates in the primary.

Three candidates will be included in the March 5, 2024 presidential primary of the Peace and Freedom Party. These candidates, in alphabetical order, are Claudia De la Cruz, Jasmine Sherman, and Cornel West

Voters registered as Peace and Freedom Party members may vote for one of these candidates in the primary. The deadline for registering is February 20, 2024.

Peace and Freedom Party State Chair Debra requested the inclusion of these candidates in a letter  to California Secretary of State Shirley Weber, based on their interest in our primary, their serious efforts to garner support, and their general agreement with our party platform.

In the same primary election, members of the new Central Committees will be elected.  The incoming members of the California State Central Committee of the Peace and Freedom Party will make the final decision on which candidate to nominate at an August convention. Vice-Presidential candidates do not appear on the primary ballot.  After selecting the presidential nominee, the State Central Committee will select the Vice-Presidential nominee.

In California, voter registration is very important to political parties. The very existence of a political party as “ballot-qualified” is determined by the number of votes its statewide candidates receive or by the number of voters registered with the party. As the only feminist socialist political party on the California ballot, it is imperative that the Peace and Freedom Party continues as a qualified party.

Quite simply, the Peace and Freedom Party will not be able to provide Californians with candidates that will represent us unless we register and vote Peace and Freedom.

For all the information you need on registering to vote, visit the California Secretary of State's homepage at or just click here.

Thank you for registering Peace and freedom Party, and thank you for your vote!
