Battle lines in the US Culture Wars – a Suds, Snacks & Socialism online forum
Peace & Freedom Party’s co-sponsored Suds, Snacks & Socialism monthly forum series continues in online form via Zoom meeting on Saturday, October 9, to discuss Battle Lines in the US Culture Wars
Those of us living on the “Left Coast” do not have daily contact with people who think that climate change is a hoax, life begins at conception, ethnic studies is un-American, and public health measures threaten their liberty. The polarization in our society is at a level not seen since the 1960s and 70s.
Leading the discussion about the forces behind the issues that divide us are our speakers from Florida, Texas, and inland California:
- Kathy Staudt, Professor Emerita, UTEP; leader in El Paso Alliance for Just Schools; DSA El Chuco Workers Clinic.
- Cindy Gordon, Former L.A. County Chair of PFP and CWA member, retired to Florida.
- Kevin Akin, State Chair and Riverside County Chair, Peace and Freedom Party of California
The program will start promptly at 2:30pm PT and is expected to wrap up by 4:30pm. To join the forum, click here or write
This forum is co-sponsored by the Oakland Greens, the Alameda County Peace and Freedom Party and Bay Area System Change Not Climate Change. The forum is part of our ongoing Socialist Forum Series on the first Saturday of every month. Our purpose is informed political discussion, and the views expressed are those of the speakers only, not official positions of the Peace and Freedom Party or our fellow co-sponsors.
